San Francisco Trip

We visited 2 restaurants this trip that's blog-worthy.

Himawari

202 2nd Ave
San Mateo, CA 94401
(650) 375-1005

This is a Japanese restaurant, known for it's ramen. They also have lots of rice dishes. I had the pork belly ramen, the pork was melts-in-your-mouth tenderness. The place is not very big so expect a line of waiting customers on busy weekends.

Restaurant & View

We were walking along Fisherman's Wharf and searching on Yelp for a good restaurant to eat at.
We came across Scoma's right on the pier.  The restaurant was full but we only waited about 10 minutes before we got seated. It overlooked the way with beautiful views. The restaurant is on the pricey side but it's the price you pay for fresh seafood.

I ordered from the 3-item pre-fixed menu ($49) which the portions are smaller. I had a Caesar Salad with Clam Chowder and Crab Ravioli, it was very delicious and just the right size for me.

Here is what we ordered:
  • DUNGENESS CRAB COCKTAIL
  • WHOLE DUNGENESS CRAB
S
  • CLAM CHOWDER
  • LOBSTER RAVIOLI - House-made ravioli in a Lemon and Saffron Cream Sauce,   Spinach, and Fresh Tomato
  • CRAB RAVIOLI - with prawns
  • House-made Ravioli with a Champagne Beurre Blanc, Swiss Chard and Fried Leekss
  • LOBSTER NEWBURG ALLA SCOMA - Topped with Melted Provolone Cheese
